Join us at the summit of Balsam Lake Mountain on Saturday, August 8th at 11:00 am when amateur radio operator, Kevin Morgan will join us to discuss some of the history of this form of communication. Fire Towers have historically been the early warning system that gets resources to a fire quickly. Depending on the time period, both telephone and radio communication were used. Kevin will discuss the history and the modern and fun options that are currently available. This presentation will appeal to everyone, but we strongly urge you to bring a young person who may wish to consider building their own equipment! You will find a sampling of things to do with a radio here: https://www.arrl.org/shop/files/pdfs/Youth Flyer.pdf. For additional details, please contact Laurie Rankin, Volunteer Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Capacity: 20 attendees.
