Monitoring and Managing Ash (MaMA) Training

  • Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County 64 Ferndale Loomis Road Liberty, NY, 12754 United States (map)

CRISP’S MaMA Training Workshops

MaMA is an innovative approach that provides hope for conserving ash and mitigating damage from the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), which threatens killing virtually all the ash trees in the area; training includes instruction in MaMA’s citizen-science and land-manager projects to find EAB-resistant trees.

All workshops are presented by MaMA’s originators, Jonathan Rosenthal (Director of ERI) and Dr. Radka Wildova (ERI Senior Scientist). Sessions include hands-on demonstrations of establishing mortality plots, conducting Ash/EAB surveys, and reporting lingering ash. Attendance at an ERI MaMA workshop is required for participation in the MaMA Monitoring Plot Network and MaMA Lingering Ash Search citizen science/land manager projects. For more information on MaMA, visit MonitoringAsh.org or email outreach@monitoringash.org
