Catskill Center to Hold Annual Meeting
The Catskill Center for Conservation and Development will hold its 41st Annual Membership Meeting on Saturday, July 17, at 11 am at the Erpf House in Arkville. The Annual Meeting is highlighted by the presentation of the Alf Evers Award for Excellence, the election of new members to the Board of Directors, and a special guest presentation addressing this year’s focus on efforts underway to designate Route 28 a Scenic Byway. We also encourage participants to take the opportunity to enjoy two featured activities in Margaretville and Arkville that day: the Catskill Forest Festival and a ride on the Delaware and Ulster Railroad.
The Catskill Center is proud to honor Dennis Lucas Sr., Supervisor for the Town of Hunter, with the Alf Evers Award for Excellence. Dennis has been chosen for his outstanding leadership and commitment to community development in the Catskill Mountain Region.
The Annual Meeting will feature a presentation by Al Wegener, organizer of the Shawangunk Mountains Scenic Byway, who will share his experiences with the Scenic Byway project and how this designation can be a tool for tourism development in the Catskills.
The Catskill Center will also elect eight people to the Board of Directors, including five new members. First time nominees for the Board of Directors include Giacomo Barbieri of Bovina Center, Susan Clark of Bovina, Laura Hussey of Delhi, Patricia Rudge of Oliveria, and Jan Jaffee of Pine Hill.
All day long the Catskill Forest Festival will be in Margaretville with forest management education, arts & crafts, forest industry information, recreation and food vendors. After our meeting, there will be plenty of time to catch the 2 pm train on the Delaware and Ulster Railroad for a scenic and historic ride to Roxbury.
