Over 300 Participate in Lark in the Park

The 7th Annual Lark in the Park was a great success thanks to all the participants who enjoyed the outdoor events throughout the Lark and the dozens of volunteers who organized and led the events.

Over 300 people participated in over 30 events from October 2 through October 11. A few of the most popular events included the hike up to Red Hill Fire Tower led by Aaron Bennett and Alan White, the “Hike and Write” on Giant Ledge with Will Nixon, the Escarpment Loop over Acra Point with Carol and David White, and “Ride the Rails and the Trails” a yearly favorite led by Peter Manning. We had over 25 wonderful volunteers led the variety of hikes, paddles, bike rides and educational activities.

A special thank you to Willie Janeway, NYS-DEC Region 3 Director, and Author Marty Podskoch for a fascinating and well-attended evening presentation “Outdoor Recreation in the Catskill Park”. We would also like to thank the businesses and organizations who donated raffle prizes for Lark in the Park: Plattekill Mountain, Bodyworx (Margaretville), Morgan Outdoors (Livingston Manor), and Catskill Mountainkeeper.

Lark in the Park is a celebration of the Catskill Park coordinated through a partnership with the Catskill Mountain Club and the Catskill Center for Conservation and Development.
