The Catskill Center and the Friends of the Catskill Interpretive Center are jointly releasing a Request for Proposals.
A study will be conducted to create a database on the natural and cultural resources available on regional public lands for residents and visitors.
The entire Request for Proposals can be found here. Proposals must be submitted by August 1, 2014.
On Friday night August 29th, we invite you all to find a place with a view of your favorite fire tower on the horizon for our 2nd annual Lighting of the Fire Towers Event! Find an area in your neighborhood where you have a view of one of the fire towers. From 9:00 pm to 9:30 pm, look up to see the cabs lit up. For additional information visit our Fire Towers page.

Catskill Mountain Folklife & History Archives
The Catskill Center recently digitized Folklife & History Archives. You can check out recordings from Catskill Region residents in the 1980′s discussing life in the good old days! Links to recordings are available on the bottom of our Arts & Culture page.
3 Chosen for 2014 Scholarship Program!
We are happy to announce that our Scholarship Committee has selected 3 recipients for our 2014 Catskill Center Scholarship Program! Applications are accepted every year from graduating seniors from schools within the Catskill Park (blue line) of the Catskill Mountain Region. The following students were accepted and will each receive $250 toward their college expenses: Julia Armstrong – Onteora High School, Michael Conroy – Margaretville Central School, and Jackie Grego – Saugerties High SChool. Applicants were considered based on the following criteria: academic achievement (requiring transcripts), extracurricular activities, adult recommendations, future academic plans (proof of college registration), and an essay with select topics. Thank you to all who applied!!
The Catskill Center awarded 3 scholarships to for students age 11-13 to attend NYSDEC’s Camp DeBruce this summer. Applications were received from Catskill Region students, who all participated in an essay contest. Each scholarship will cover the cost of 1 week at Camp DeBruce, including food, lodging, and activities. To find out more about the Camp DeBruce visit NYSDEC’s Camps Page.
