Catskill Center and DEP Announce First Land Preserved Through Streamside Acquisition Program

The Catskill Center and the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) today announced the purchase of a 2-acre parcel of land in Greene County – the very first to be protected under a new program that preserves environmentally sensitive lands alongside streams, creeks and rivers. The Streamside Acquisition Program is managed by the Catskill Center and funded by DEP. The program focuses on preserving lands that are adjacent to streams that feed the City’s reservoir system in the Catskills.

DEC Deputy Commissioner Honored at Catskill Center’s Summer Gathering

July 18, 2017: The Catskill Center for Conservation and Development honored Kathy Moser, Deputy Commissioner of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, with the Alf Evers Award for Excellence during their 2017 Summer Gathering. Ms. Moser was given the Catskill Center’s most prestigious award for her outstanding work to advance outdoor recreation opportunities and communities in Catskill Park.

U.S. – India Exchange comes to Mount Tremper and the Catskill Interpretive Center

April 11, 2017: A delegation of senior level Forest Supervisors from India’s state agencies will be in Mount Tremper to give a presentation on forest management and water for drinking, agriculture and hydro-power in India. The presentation will be on Wednesday, April 26, at 6:30 PM at the Catskill Interpretive Center—5096 Route 28, Mount Tremper, New York. This special presentation is open to the public, free of charge and anyone who is interested in this unique perspective on forest lands and public water supply in India is encouraged to attend.

The Catskill Center is pleased to announce that Jonathan Mogelever has joined the organization as executive assistant, supporting executive director Jeff Senterman.
