Taking Flight / NYSOA 2019
Friday, Saturday* and Sunday
*Saturday night keynote and dinner is not included and must be purchased separately.
With the exception of Saturday night’s banquet, all other all meals are “on your own”. There are a number of very good eating establishments in the area, as well as the hotel’s restaurant.
NATHAN PIEPLOW will deliver Saturday evening’s Keynote presentation. The Amazing Sounds of Birds, shares some of his most remarkable audio from over a decade of recording birds in the field. What bird uses its voice to echolocate inside dark caves? Which bird sings a duet with itself? Which bird sings over a thousand different songs?
Nathan Pieplow is the author of the Peterson Field Guide to Bird Sounds of Eastern North America. He has been fascinated by birds since his childhood in South Dakota, and has intensively studied bird sounds since 2003. He is the former editor of the journal Colorado Birds and an author of the Colorado Birding Trail. He lives in Boulder, Colorado, and teaches writing and rhetoric at the University of Colorado.
