Update: Work has Begun!

This morning, work began on a formal parking area at the Thorn Preserve! (woot woot!!)

The new parking area will easily accommodate 8 vehicles plus 1 accessible vehicle.(We can also accommodate over-flow parking, as the need arises).

The project includes grading for a rain garden in which will be planted with native plants on a volunteer-powered planting day (to be announced).

Funds enough have been raised to begin the parking area construction, (thank you!!) but we are still short of our goal. Your financial contribution can help realize our plans for fencing, an information kiosk, and visitor signage.

The Catskill Center's Thorn Preserve is 60 acres of meadow, wetland, pond, and frontage on the Sawkill Creek. It also boasts one of Woodstock's most spectacular views of Overlook Mountain.
Along with our partner, the Woodstock Land Conservancy, the Thorn Preserve is managed to support and preserve wildlife, including pollinators.

Walking paths are maintained throughout the Preserve which is open to the public from dawn to dusk. ⠀⠀
