Sloshing Through Mud Season / with dry toes
To best enjoying hiking through the wonder that is spring in the Catskills, our good friend, Lenny Bussanich at Campmor makes the following recommendations,
1) Definitely Gore-Tex gaiters like the Outdoor Research Crocodile or Rocky Mountain gaiters.
2) Gore-Tex boots like the Vasque Breeze GTX. The Breeze is an awesome boot in that it provides ample support but not necessarily stiff that requires break-in. The drawback is that it has mesh panels so it may not provide the best protection against the elements.
3) Leki or Black Diamond Trekking poles
As for apparel, anything that wicks and dries relatively quickly.
Thanks, Lenny!
