Giving Tuesday and the Catskill Center
How many ways can we measure the Catskills? We could look to the mountain peaks, vibrant main streets, clean and clear streams, cultural events, dedicated volunteers, miles of trails...there is no single way to measure what the Catskills mean to each of us.
The Catskills inspire in so many ways. That inspiration deserves our appreciation and support.
The Catskill Center is dedicated to protecting the Catskills, ensuring that our natural and cultural resources will be preserved and our communities will thrive at the same time. We work hard so that not only can we enjoy the Catskills, but they will be here for our children’s children and beyond.
This Tuesday is #GivingTuesday, a global day of generosity where we give back to the people, places and organizations that continue to transform our world for the better. On December 1, we ask that you give back to the Catskills, so they can continue to inspire future generations. So we can preserve critically important lands and habitats, ensure our communities thrive, and provide tens of thousands of visitors each year with a connection to a region unlike any other in the world.
As we look to the future of the Catskills, your support is more essential than ever. The growing popularity of outdoor recreation requires extensive investments in our park and growth of programs like the Catskills Visitor Center and the Catskill Stewards. The growing effects of climate change require action to ensure that the Catskills are as protected as possible. Our communities need tools to connect visitors to main streets and local economies.
2020 has been a year that has affected us all, and I know that times are tough for many of you reading this. If you can, please keep the Catskill in mind on #GivingTuesday, and help preserve a place that has given us so much inspiration during troubling times.
Your generosity and support is what makes a difference in our work to protect and preserve the Catskills. Thank you for supporting the Catskill Center and helping us do so much in - and for - the Catskills.
Gratefully yours,
Jeff Senterman, Executive Director
