The second of four monthly economic development winter forums, to be held at the Catskill Center in Arkville, will focus on the role of recreational tourism in the Catskills.
"By sharing ideas, problems and objectives, local businesses and communities throughout the Catskills will benefit as the entire region becomes more of a destination and better able to capitalize on growing tourism," said Geddy Sveikauskas, who will chair the forum.
After each of the eight speakers give five-minute introductory talks about the changing story of business in their villages or hamlets, the panelists will discuss similarities and differences among them and possible ways of working together, such as sharing ideas, coordinating events for the benefit of communities and the region as a whole.
In the final part of the Saturday forum, the audience will have an opportunity to ask questions and contribute to the discussion.
The public is invited. There is no fee for admission.
Upcoming forums in March and April will discuss second-home tourism and the prospects for digital businesses, and plans and hopes for the Maurice D. Hinchey Catskill Interpretive Center in Mount Tremper.
