SUGGESTED DONATION: $10/PERSON WITH REGISTRATION
Hike Itinerary:
The hike will follow along an old service road for the first 2 and a quarter miles. The trail doesn’t have too much elevation gain for this first section but will include some rocky walking. When we reach the junction to make the final 3 quarters of a mile push to the fire tower, the first quarter mile will feature the steepest incline of the whole hike. For this reason, there will be a rest period before we begin that final push. The final half-mile or so will be a beautiful walk through the balsam forest before reaching the opening where the fire tower is located. The way back will allow for rests as requested by those attending.
Items to Bring:
Water (1-2 Liters as needed, there are no reliable sources to draw from on this hike)
Snacks
Headlamp (cell phone lights will not suffice)*
Insulation - Puffy Jacket (additional fleece encouraged)
Trekking Poles (If needed, there will be a pretty steep quarter-mile section)
Hiking Boots or Shoes (trail runners are acceptable, just make sure your footwear can handle a rocky trail as it is not a completely smooth walk)
*If you do not have a headlamp you will not be allowed to take part in this hike. Due to issues with having to assist hikers who did not have headlamps in the past, there will be NO EXCEPTIONS! You will also be turned away if you forget your headlamp, it only counts if it’s on your person so be sure you have it before you start driving.
