Join us for our fourth Third Thursday here at the Catskill Center!
Every Third Thursday of the month we join our friends and neighbors on the porch here at the Catskill Center at 4355 State Route 28, Arkville NY 12406 for an evening of food and community.
Featuring eclectic folk and acoustic performances by:
Floyd Armlin
Roland Vinyard and Friends
Third Thursdays continues with the fourth edition of their “Lively Duos series” at the Catskill Center
In Arkville, NY on August 17th, 2017 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.
On the front porch of Arkville’s “ark”, the Catskill Center will be hosting the second Thursday of their new series, Third Thursdays: a neighborly evening of potluck, music and getting-to-know-you.
Curated by Brit Hotaling, lively acoustics and folk will be played by Floyd Armlin and Roland Vinyard- courtesy of the Flying Song Garden. Both artists are an eclectic mix of folk and alternative, with a mix of acoustic covers and originals as well.
Floyd Armlin is an acoustic musician who regularly organizes open mic nights throughout the Central New York region. He will be playing an acoustic set of original music with some crowd favorite covers thrown in.
Roland Vinyard’s playing can take on the ragtime bounce of John Hurt, the thumb-led melody of the Carter family, or whatever, but it is always somehow his own definable sound, its sophistication submerged, never so polished that it loses rough-edged authenticity. He takes what he likes, what strikes him in both the ear and the heart, and adapts it into something in his own style, but fully in keeping with the music’s original feel. He might come up with a take on it that you have never heard, but it will still sound old.
All are invited to bring their favorite dish for sharing and picnicking. July’s gatherers supplied a full-tilt spread with offerings running the gambit from baked ziti to salads of local spring greens and delightful finger foods-and, pizza.
The Catskill Center invites all community members to join us for further Third Thursday events - a new monthly evening of food, friends, and music at the Erpf Center Gallery in Arkville from 6:00- 9:00pm.
There will be a suggested donation of $10 to help the Catskill Center continue to provide events and programming.
