DEC Deputy Commissioner Honored at Catskill Center’s Summer Gathering

July 18, 2017: The Catskill Center for Conservation and Development honored Kathy Moser, Deputy Commissioner of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, with the Alf Evers Award for Excellence during their 2017 Summer Gathering. Ms. Moser was given the Catskill Center’s most prestigious award for her outstanding work to advance outdoor recreation opportunities and communities in Catskill Park.

DEC Commissioner Basil Seggos said, “The Department of Environmental Conservation values our partnership with the Catskill Center to promote recreation, sustainable development, and natural resource conservation in the Catskill Park. I commend the Catskill Center for selecting Kathy Moser for the 2017 Alf Evers Award for Excellence in recognition of her leadership and the important work that she and her team at DEC are doing to fulfill Governor Cuomo’s commitment to promote and protect this valuable New York State treasure.”

The Peekamoose Restaurant and Tap Room was filled to capacity for The Summer Gathering last Saturday, July 15. The Catskill Center hosts the celebration annually to honor individuals whose work benefits the Catskill Park and the Catskill region.

Former Catskill Center Board President, H. Claude Shostal, was also honored at the event. He was presented with the Ginsberg Award for his years of service. And for 18 years of exceptional volunteer service with the Catskill Fire Tower Project and throughout the Catskill Park, Douglas Hamilton was honored with the Volunteer Recognition Award.
