Sundown Wild Forest and Vernooy Kill State Forest Unit Management Plan (UMP)
Dear Interested Citizen:
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) is announcing the availability of the draft Sundown Wild Forest and Vernooy Kill State Forest Unit Management Plan (UMP) and an upcoming meeting to receive comments on the draft.
Meeting Date and Time: November 1, 2018, 6:00-9:00 p.m.
Meeting Location: The Ellenville Library, 40 Center St, Ellenville, NY 12428
From 6:00 pm -7:00 pm. DEC Foresters will host a public availability session to informally discuss the draft unit management plan prior to the start of the meeting. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. with a DEC presentation of the draft plan. Following the presentation, the public will have an opportunity to comment on the draft Sundown Wild Forest and Vernooy Kill State Forest Management Plan
In addition, at any time during the comment period, written comments can be sent to DEC forester Pine Roehrs, NYSDEC, 21 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz, NY 12561 or electronically mailed to: r3.ump@dec.nyh.gov. Written comments will be received until November 17, 2018.
The Sundown Wild Forest and Vernooy Kill State Forest Unit Management Plan consists of both Forest Preserve and State Forest lands in the towns of Denning, Olive, Rochester, and Wawarsing in Ulster County, and the Town of Neversink in Sullivan County. The draft plan covers proposed management actions over a combined 34,568 acres of both Forest Preserve and State Forest land.
