The 12th Annual Lark in the Park will offer exciting hiking, paddling, cycling, fishing, nature walks and lectures as well as cultural and educational events throughout the entire Catskill region.  From Saturday, October 3rd through Monday, the 12th, you can enjoy dozens of outdoor activities during the 10-day Lark celebration, sponsored by the Catskill Center, New York – New Jersey Trail Conference, Catskill Mountain Club, and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

NYSDEC Commissioner Martens Directs DEC Staff to Issue Permits for Belleayre Resort Project

In a decision released today (July 10, 2015), New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Joe Martens granted DEC staff’s motion to cancel the adjudicatory hearing on the Crossroads Ventures LLC project, known as The Belleayre Resort at Catskill Park, and directed DEC staff to issue the necessary permits associated with the project. The project will be located on lands near the Belleayre Mountain Ski Center.

DEC announces opening of Maurice D. Hinchey Catskill Interpretive Center

Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Joe Martens today officially opened the Maurice D. Hinchey Catskill Interpretive Center on Rt. 28 in the Town of Shandaken, Ulster County, which will serve as a gateway for visitors to Catskills Forest Preserve to learn about the vast outdoor recreation opportunities in the area as well as to discover the region's rich history and ecology. The $1.3 Million project was funded with approximately $500,000 from New York Works, $420,000 from the State's Environmental Protection Fund and a $380,000 federal Housing and Urban Development grant.
