My Catskills Experience:
Catskill Center Spring 2020 Writing Contest

In May 2020, the Catskill Center accepted submissions for our spring writing contest! We asked writers to tell us a story of their Catskills experience in one of three forms: poetry, personal essay, or children/young adult writing. We were excited to receive so many wonderful submissions: a funny yet cautionary tale of a lone hiker who lost daylight; a beautiful poem that makes the reader feel as if they are the element of water; a story of winter hikers who were unknowingly accompanied by a bear, and more.

Although the decision was difficult, our judges selected a winner for each category. Please enjoy the three winning pieces below (which will also be published in a 2020 edition of Catskills Magazine), as well as the selected honorable mentions!
