Bears in the Catskills Discussion with NYSDEC Wildlife Biologist

Black bear populations have been increasing over the past 30 years in New York State. This increase has provided opportunities for people to enjoy viewing bears. Unfortunately, their increasing presence occasionally conflicts with human interests. Join DEC Wildlife Biologist Larry Bifaro on Thursday, September 29 from 7-8:30 pm to discuss the natural history, behavior and management of black bears with emphasis on interactions with people.

Larry Bifaro is a Wildlife Biologist for the Department of Environmental Conservation. He has been working with black bears for 18 years and is a member of the Big Game Team for DEC which is a committee that manages black bears, whitetail deer and moose for the state.

The “Bears in the Catskills” talk will take place on Thursday, September 29 from 7 – 8:30 pm at the Catskill Center’s Erpf Center, 43355 Rt 28 Arkville NY. A donation of $5 is suggested for attendees. For more information, contact the Catskill Center at (845) 586-2611 or cccd@catskillcenter.org or visit catskillcenter.org.
