Renowned photographer Francis X. Driscoll will share some of his best moments in the Catskills and explain the creative process behind his work.
“I’ve come to believe that to capture a good image I need technical ability, good equipment, being in the right place at the right time, a positive attitude, and always some luck. When these do not all come together, at least I’ve been able to slow down and see the beauty in what’s around me. It’s a release to just be there, away from the trials and tribulations of the outside world. In those moments, photography becomes secondary to the feelings I’ve stumbled onto. It may be just another day in the outside world, but here in the Catskills there’s that something special waiting for me around the next bend.
I hope my photographs in this show leave a lasting impression and provide some proof of what I have just explained about my work, that they are better than my words, and that they put a spotlight on the beauty that needs us to be its guardians.”
Fran Driscoll’s presentation is the final offering from the 2018 Catskill Center's Member Program Series.
Catskill Center members and the public are encouraged to attend.
