This week for Catskill Mountain Kids we’re excited to have local Catskills expert Laurie Rankin here to share information and firsthand stories of the fire towers of the Forest Preserve. Come to learn what the fire towers were once used for and to see a show and tell of the equipment of a fire tower watcher! Kids 4-10 suggested, but all are welcome to take part. At the end of the program, we hope you'll join us (though not required to participate!) for a tour of the newest Catskills fire tower called the Upper Esopus here at the Visitor Center.
Catskill Mountain Kids is a year-round weekly daytime program series that celebrates the nature, history and culture of the Catskills. Each session will include some focused learning time, hands-on activities, and outdoor exploration. The program is geared for ages 4-7 but all are welcome. Please dress for the weather/being outside and the possibility of getting messy.
The Fall session will run for 6 weeks and include programs on seasonal themes - more details will be added as the dates get closer. We’d love to see families come back every week, but you can also feel free to pick & choose the dates that work for you. Please note the Fall 2019 session will meet on Saturdays.
Suggested weekly donation: $2/child (max of $5/family), members free. Donations support the ongoing programs and operations of the Catskills Visitor Center, a program of the Catskill Center nonprofit organization.
