Save Energy Together Workshop – October 6th

September 21, 2015:  Arkville, NY– A “Saving Energy Together” Workshop will be held Tuesday, October 6th, 5pm – 6pm at the Catskill Center, 43355 State Route 28, Arkville, NY. This program will educate homeowners on how to stop wasting money on energy costs by taking advantage of energy efficiency programs through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). The workshop will be presented by Michael Courtney, Outreach Coordinator for RUPCO’s Green Jobs – Green New York Team.

During the October 6th workshop, participants will learn how to access a NYSERDA free or low-cost home energy assessment through the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR© Program. NYSERDA helps homeowners install recommended energy saving measures from the assessment by providing significant discounts and low-interest financing. Presenters will also cover low cost do-it-yourself options. After the presentations, homeowners can apply for a home energy assessment and other NYSERDA benefits. “NYSERDA offers great financial incentives for everyone to start saving on energy costs right now,” said Michael Courtney, Outreach Coordinator with RUPCO’s Green Jobs – Green New York Team. “A typical annual savings from the program is around $700 per year, with many people saving even more.” Homeowners can get at least 10% cash-back from NYSERDA when they install qualifying energy saving measures like improved insulation, air-sealing or a heating system upgrade. Residents making less than 80% of the local median income can get an amazing 50% discount off the cost of installing energy efficiency measures, up to a total discount of $5,000 and up to $10,000 for two to four family homes.
