Wildlife Woods Walk

  • Balsam Lake Mountain Fire Tower (map)

On Sunday, August 2nd, the Catskill Forest Association's Ryan Trapani and John MacNaught will lead a wildlife woods walk from the Balsam Lake Mountain Fire Tower trail head parking area on Millbrook road. We are often asked by visitors about the wildlife that we see while volunteering. Ryan and John will discuss what wildlife lives in each of the three major forest types seen along this hike and why each particular habitat is useful for the species of interest that you may see. We will plan on beginning the hike at 10:00 am. Please have appropriate footwear, snacks, water, and rain gear if the weather looks threatening. The hike will be about 6 miles round trip with an elevation gain of 1300 feet. For additional details, please contact Laurie Rankin, Volunteer Coordinator at laur090@yahoo.com.

Capacity: 20 attendees.
