Catskill Center's Executive and Associate Directors attend Governor Cuomo's Mid-Hudson State of the State Address

The Catskill Center's Executive Director Jeff Senterman and Associate Director Kali Bird had the opportunity to attend Governor Cuomo's Mid-Hudson State of the State Address at SUNY Purchase on January 10, 2017. We joined other non-profits, elected officials, and citizens of the region, to hear the Governor speak about his upcoming plans.

We’ve been talking a lot about hemlocks here at the Catskill Center this past year. They’re an iconic part of the Catskills, whether they are providing ideal trout stream habitat, stabilizing steep slopes, or just perfectly framing an aesthetic waterfall getaway. Unfortunately, hemlocks in the Catskills (and elsewhere along the East coast) have been struggling to overcome an attack by an invasive insect: the hemlock woolly adelgid.

The Catskill Center in 2016

In 2016 the Catskill Center Board of Directors and staff began a strategic visioning and planning process to look towards the Center's 50th anniversary in 2019 and our next 50 years of success. The process has been ongoing all year and will culminate with a strategic plan, to be released by the Catskill Center in early 2017 that will set out a clear mission, vision and direction for the Catskill Center to meet the challenges of our changing world.
